Does this camera need the homebase? null

This camera does not need the homebase. The homebase is simply a large storage device for security videos. I recommend you hook it up to the Apple home app and just use your iCloud storage

The home base is optional, but if you want to record more or store your videos I would recommend getting the home base. We added the home base a few months after purchasing the cameras because we work all the time and would like to have the opportunity to record and store more videos.

No, the eufyCam S4 can be used by connecting directly to a router. HomeBase 3 is not required for use.
