It should track your running distance through your steps. Uses an estimate based on the stride distance it has saved Im not sure about cycling.

It will not do well with cycling as there will be no 'stride' for it to calculate from. That being said, if you have no cell phone signal, you will still have gps signal. GPS does not rely on cell signal.

When the phone is along for the ride, you can track your route via GPS, but if you don't have the phone along, knowing your distance covered can be entered into your Blaze for logging accuracy.
