• Plug it in to the charger and follow the link it displays in a browser. Or download the app and open after you plug in to the charger and add the device. It will walk you through the update and setup.

• You don't start it as far as pressing any buttons. Instead, put it in the charging cable and plug that in. Then run the app on your phone. For best results make sure your Fitbit app is up to date and all other Fitbits are at least 40 feet away unless turned off which is a hassle. There's already a big firmware update so make sure your phone has plenty of juice.

• You have to download the Fitbit app on your phone and once you it will tell you what to do.
