Does the Versa 3 count stairs null

Sort of...it has a stair count that is based on an altimitor, measuring aprox 12 feet of height UP. This is based on the normal distance netween floors in buildings. Travel downward is not counted. This allows you to get your entire days flights of stairs with only one floor change avalable. Unfortuately it also means that the half flight to that sunken living room will never be counted automatically. Nor will that time spent on the stairstepper, unless you install it on the elevator.
