It punches. It doesn't punch like half an inch like some of the larger ones. But it does have a punching motion.

It punches, also known as "percussive massager". It's about the size of a phone. You need to charge it a full day at first, after that the battery lasts for hours. For price and quality this massager can't be beat. It will definitely help with sore muscles, I love mine.
