We got this about a month ago and hours of use every day are not showing wear, for what that's worth.

Most data is kept online with chromebooks, and everything is designed to work with Google products, so you need to look into how much cloud storage you can use for free/how much it will cost, and consider whether you are comfortable with online data storage.

If you need to use installed software this would not be a good choice. If your software is online or cloud-based I imagine this would work fine as long as you use Dropbox or Google Drive to store any files. You can used Google Sheets just like Excel.
