“I am not very computer savvy. I have read all the questions and specifications and could not find info on virus protection. Does this Chromebook have virus protection? Or does one have to be purchased and downloaded?”

As a Chromebook it does not require an Antivirus since software is running in a browser and cloud applications. When using Android applications you are rather safe since you only download safe applications from the Google Play store.
