• Well, that depends on what he needs. Since it is a Chromebook, it is entirely Internet based. You can't install programs on it, only extensions for the browser. So if he needs a certain program for note taking and his classes, this is not the one for him.

• It works really well for taking notes. I also buy it to take notes in college.
