Locally only 1 person can play. via xbox live you can play multiplayer however. this requires an xbox live membership though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I'm not sure about on the same console, but me and my friend bought copies for XBOX Ones and we played together. It's open world. The campaign data is single player save. So you can play alone and work through the campaign or play with others through the campaign or a combination of both. Unlike games most Co-Op games were you play two campaigns (solo and co-op), this one is just open world with missions. So playing together helps all players progress, but your progress isn't dependent upon others. I think I read somewhere that up to 4 can player in one world, but I know 2 can play together on separate consoles.
