• Hello, We appreciate your inquiry. The right and left panel will expand to about 12.5” to fit a window of a maximum of 36”. With the understanding that your window is 42”, this unit is not a perfect fit. We would like to recommend unit model FRA296ST2 as it does require a width of 42” the maximum.
