Yes, it is reasonably quiet. I would say about 55 decibels, which is about what I remember reading from a professional review. Put another way, you will have to raise the TV volume a bit if you are within 10 feet of the AC. But that is reasonably expected.

It's not really quiet. I used to have a 8,000 BTU air conditioner which was quieter, but also much weaker. This 12,000 BTU air conditioner is A BEAST (I mean that in a good way). Consequently it is fairly loud, but it is just that whooshing white noise, so it's not as bad as someone hammering nails!

The Frigidaire 12,000 BTU Window AC has a noise rating of 52.1dB which is pretty quiet.
