No this will not fit through a 27 inch door. It's 27 1/2 inches from back to front and that's without the width of the lid hinges. Plus there is a wire sticking out, so you really need about 29 inches of space. The lid might be removable... can't confirm. But the wire on the back connects the lower to lid. And doesn't come off. Other than that, the lid has two plastic covers that feel like they come off. Then I'm sure the hardware is exposed .
