Hey Jane, thank you for your inquiry. Yes, your refrigerator should have come with a hinge cover (part 240354404). Regarding the sounds you are noticing, the compressor operates at a higher pressure when first starting and the noise should disappear as the refrigerator continues to run and balance pressures.
