I have never had to drill a drainage hole for any of my past units or for this one. I know it is recommended for window units to be slightly on a downward angle to allow for drainage, but I just put mine in how it fits. If taking the unit out of the window make sure to run in fan mode for about an hour to dry up condensation so you don't get water everywhere.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The more efficient units do NOT have drain holes anymore. The condensation is picked up by the fan and is blown into the condensing coils to improve heat exchange to the outside air. So, it has no drain holes and DO NOT drill any.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don’t know as this unit went to a family member. Did you look at the manual? This unit might take care of it’s own condensation by itself. You shouldn’t have to drill anything. I don’t recommend doing this because you could hit something inside and there is no warranty on that one. Check the owners manual and I will ask my family member about how hers is doing
