• I'm a musician and have excellent hearing. I hear a number of sounds when the unit is on, particularly when it's on high fan. I wouldn't call any of the sounds whining. The general sound of the motor and fan are relatively loud, and I hear a faint whistle sound, which my friends can't hear.
