Yes, there is a locking feature, and to turn the burners on, you have to first turn on the power, and then turn on the burner, so it's not easy to accidentally turn one on. Additionally, the burn will not heat unless it senses a pan on the burner. If you haven't had induction before, beware... only certain types of pots and pans will work on it as the stove has to have a magnetic contact to sense the pan and turn on.
