To me, it depends on how cold you want the freezer compartment since there is not a separate freezer compartment temperature control. I first set it in the middle temperature setting but the freezer wasn't cold enough for me...ice cream was only half frozen. So I kept moving the control to colder and colder until the Ice cream was solid frozen. That temperature setting close to the coldest setting works perfect for me.
