A:AnswerOn another Frigidaire range model I have a similar Simmer-to-Boil burner. It's a one-size burner, and its size is that of the solid ring (well, solid for three quarters of the circumference and dashed for the other quarter; I don't know why). The other three dashed-lined rings, to my knowledge, have no meaning. There are several "dead rings" within the burner area that never light up; it is a different kind of burner than the other single-size burners. Because it doesn't all light up, I would guess it produces a less uniform heat than the other burners that light up on almost all of the disk area, but in practice I never saw a difference (I have good cookware). I say "almost all of the disk area" because all of the burners on my range have a thin radial segment that doesn't light up; again I don't think it makes a difference. Finally, just like most burners ever produced in the human history of electrical ranges, there is a knob that allows you to control the heat output, "from simmer to boil".
