“Does this unit require an external support or can it be installed without one?”

• We installed ours by simply laying a 2x4 strip of wood on the outside window ledge to level and support the exterior portion of the unit at the proper angle. The included metal bracer strip that screws to the top of the unit holds it securely against the inside of of a double hung window. If you don't have double hung windows then you might need a different set-up.
