QuestionBeen running this new unit just over 1 month. The past couple weeks it keeps jumping too high speed on its own. When it does it can’ be changed. Is this a normal function or an issue?

- Answer Hi RJL! A 70 pint dehumidifier with a wet dampness level is recommended for 700 square feet. A very damp or wet dampness level is recommended for 1000 square feet; while a slight or moderate dampness level is recommended for 1500 square feet. We hope this helps! –Thanks!-

QuestionWill this unit turn on and off by itself as needed when running on medium?

- Answer Yes. The choice of fan speed is independent of the desired humidity level setting, but turns off when said level is reached, and back on when humidity once again reaches a level above the set amount, and so on like a cycle. This should reduce overall power consumption.

QuestionI read that I cannot use this unit with an extension cord, is that true? I don't have a lot of outlets in my basement and would need to use an extension cord.

- Answer Yes, it is true that this product under no circumstances can operate with an extension cord per electrical safety requirements. This product must be plugged directly into the appropriate receptacle.

- Answer If you are referring to the drain hose, a regular garden hose will work. Just measure the distance to your floor drain to determine the proper length and pick one up at any hardware store. No special hose is needed, though a couple of dehumidifier manufacturers market their own. Save some money & just pick up a regular garden hose.

- Answer I think most brands recommend multiple smaller units in separate rooms. It may work if you have fans circulating the air in your house or have forced air heat or AC and just turn the fan on to help circulate the air.

- Answer Probably. But I’ve heard always best to go with a 70 pt dehumidifier. 50 pt will fill up too fast. 70 pt better made.

QuestionThere is a discoloration and thick buildup in the bottom of this unit, is this normal and how can we clean?

- Answer Fill the bucket with hot water (from the tap, no need to boil), and add about a half cup of Clorox. Let it stand for a day and the deposits should be mostly gone, if not completely. You can take apart the clear plastic top of the bucket (it snaps out) and scrub the deepest parts. It is normal mold buildup from standing water. I usually have to do that once or twice a season.
