As the original poster of this question, I’m still confused. We had originally scheduled geek squad to install the air conditioner on July 2, but on the morning of, they called and said that we needed an additional exterior support bracket and it was out of stock. They gave us the part number and we went online and ordered it, despite being unsure if we needed it. It was not out of stock online, and we received the bracket two days later. Tomorrow we’re scheduled to have the unit installed, but now we feel like we wasted time and money on a bracket we don’t need.

The maintenance guys in my apt building used their own brackets, but you can also purchase them. 23.5" wide x 18" high x 28" deep. It's over 120lbs, and sticks out of the window quite a bit. Definitely requires a bracket to support the chassis. I bought this 15k BTU air conditioner for a 450 sq. ft. studio apt. It should have been overkill cooling capacity given the specs, but I find that it is just enough cooling with it and my ceiling fan operating simultaneously at 60°, Eco mode. I have only tested this mode during 90°+ heat with windows unshaded, so can't really offer opinion on the performance of other modes. Under these conditions, the lowest temperature the AC remote ever read was 74°. Hope this helps...
