Yes, but minimal. We put a frozen pizza beside our ice maker, and there is a small shelf where you can put ice cream bars, or some other smaller items.

Yes. There is a small shelf on the top of the bin that hold the ice. I actually put a soda there for 10 or 15 minutes for it to get cold.
