We had a licensed electrician install a three-prong 240 V outlet in the kitchen. You can use either a three- or four-prong plug, the delivery crew will install whichever you choose on the range prior to installation.

So it would work with an existing 40amp electric stove outlet. I put in a new 40 amp 4 wire outlet, with a 4 wire cord on the stove. (The stove does not come with a cord).
