If you have a burnt on stain from cooking food, once the cooktop has cooled spray the area with a degreaser, then use a single edge razor blade (available in home stores in the paint section with a plastic holder) to scrape off the residue. There are also slightly abrasive cleaning agents specifically for glass cooktops in Lowe's, Home Depot, and often grocery stores as well. Follow the directions and apply liberal "elbow grease.".
