Yes, it is possible. There are little tabs that snap in and hold the front plate into place - if you turn the handle upside down, you can see them on either end. Very gently, use a screwdriver to press one back and out, then you can pull the entire front plate off. It's only plastic and easy to damage the little tabs, so be very careful.
