“Is it possible to use parking mode without parking cable? My cigarette lighter has constant power, so I guess I can have it always recording, but cannot have motion detection? What's the draw back of not using motion detection? Does it draw more current?”

No, the parked video recording feature is only accessible when the camera is connected to the Dash Cam parking mode cable accessory. Thanks, James
