• A:Answer The Forerunner 230 does have a bulit-in feature for run/walk alert feature that can be enabled. The device can also do custom intervals created on the watch, or workouts created in Garmin Connect and then sent to the device.

• A:Answer A smart phone is not required to use or install updates to the Forerunner 230. Syncing and updates can be done via USB to a computer. A smartphone is recommended, however, to get full use out of the watch including smart notifications and wireless syncing. ^DK
