• You can use everything on the watch without it being connected to a phone. I've found connecting it to your phone just gives you a summary of everything you're tracking on one page along with your history. On the phone app you can change things on your phone a bit faster.

• The watch is pretty useful when it comes to navigation and gps without your phone. You need your phone and service to check any fitness tracking your watch gathered and to connect.
