Questioncan you answer phone calls and text messages on this smartwatch. How close does your phone have to be to the watch.

- Answer The vivoactive 3 will allow you to accept a phone call directly on the watch, but you would use the phone in order to speak with the caller. The watch allows you to accept or decline the phone call on iOS and Android phones. If you are using an Android phone you would be able to respond to a text message with some pre-loaded responses. To use these features the phone and vivoactive 3 have to be connected with one another.

- Answer The vivoactive 3 does have the ablity to set a data field to display elevation during an activity.

QuestionWhat material is the backplate. As someone with a nickel contact allergy I’d love to purchase this watch but am worried how ill react?

- Answer Jonathan, In order to achieve a high level of corrosion resistance, stainless steel is used on the vivoactive 3. Stainless steel alloys contain small amounts of Nickel. Although the parts comply with EU Nickel Release limit standards for metals in continuous contact with skin, people with Nickel sensitivities or allergies may still have a reaction. |BB|

QuestionEarlier it was saying ‘Coming Soon’ for slate/black model , now it says ‘Sold Out’’. What is the launch date or has it already been launched ? When will be the new stock available?

- Answer Howdy! The way BestBuy inventory works is that it will be listed as coming soon before the product is available for sale, and once that date is reached it changes to reflect how many they have on hand. So as of now it is allowed to be sold by BestBuy but they haven't actually received any from Garmin yet. It's a little confusing because it implies for it to be sold out some must have been sold, but that is not the case yet.

QuestionCan we create maps for hiking and use it on this model the way we can do for Fenix 3? Does it guide you based on the maps as well? Can we save our route in real time and use it for coming back? My apologies for asking so many questions in one go.

- Answer The vivoactive 3 does not have any mapping or routing features on the device by default. There are options for Connect IQ apps that can offer some course/navigation options, but those features will very from app to app. Out of the box this device will not have any mapping options.

QuestionDoes the app show calories burned total for the day? Does the watch show total calories burned? Can you config the intensity minutes to show per day versus per week?

- Answer i installed the beta version of the connect app,and it shows calories burned per day. in fact it breaks them in at rest and active. The watch-face I downloaded (not the one that comes with the watch) also shows calories, though not divided by active and at rest the last part i do not know

- Answer Since the watch is rated to 50 meters and assuming you are a sport scuba diver and then by rule limited to 100 ft, you should be fine.

- Answer The vivoactive 3 Music offers the option of downloading music directly to the watch. The vivoacitve 3 allows you to control the music on your phone from the watch. Debbie with Garmin

QuestionCan you wear the watch on a run or bike ride without having a phone on you and download your route when you get back to the house to show you where you were? Also can you view a trail run on a topographical map?

- Answer I use my Vivoactive for bike rides and hikes without my phone. I just sync with the Garmin Connect app when I get home. The app only offers map view, satellite view, or a hybrid view. When I tried a hybrid view I didn't see a difference between that and the satellite view.

- Answer The vivoactive 3 will allow you to create multiple alarms, all of which will be vibrate only. This device does not have an audible alarm feature. |BB|

- Answer IOS is a mobile operating system created and developed by Apple. If you have an android, as I do, you can download the Garmin App from the play store and sync the Vivoin watch to your phone.

- Answer You would probably use the Row activity profile for kayaking. If using in salt water be sure to rinse it off after use. Debbie with Garmin

QuestionI understand that the vivoactive 3 does not come with any golf courses pre-loaded. My question is: once you download a course (or multiple courses) do they stay in memory so the next time you play that course, you do not have to download it again? Thanks

- Answer One course will stay on the device. You can have multiple courses in the Garmin Connect Mobile app. If you switch courses you will have to download the course you're playing each time unless you're playing the same course again. Debbie with Garmin

- Answer Yes, using a 3rd party service like Strava. There may be others but that's what I use. Via the Garmin connect app your workout can be automatically uploaded to Strava which can use the GPS info to map your route and elevation and pace and heartrate.
