We are happy to answer your questions. The HRM is a chest strap. The one you are looking at is the HRM1, which is a harder strap, while a lot of customers are happy and prefer this strap. We have another option, if you are looking for something softer there is the Premium Heart Rate Monitor, which is made of cloth all around, except for the monitor where the battery is placed. We also announced the Forerunner 225 which will be available to purchase soon, this watch has wrist-based heart rate, meaning you won’t have to wear a strap on your chest, as it has a built-in sensor using Mio Heart Rate Technology. ~QKO
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine cam with a chest strap. it is comfortable. If you are using it at a gym it is not compatible with most fitness equipment, so your heart rate will not display on the equipment monitors.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I can't answer the comfort-ability for women, but as a man, I have no issues with it. But on that note, yes, you have to wear it on around your chest. I would recommend this type of HRM though because I have read/heard that the HRM's that read from the wrist are very inaccurate and unreliable. Also, the "Connect" app that you use with the VivoSmart is pretty nice and shows good graphs of your workout. I like the data that it stores, unlike the Polar FT7.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is a chest strap. You can wear it right where the ribcage area is.. for women.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don't find the chest strap uncomfortable at all and it's not bulky at all, I even wear it when doing Yoga.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The included heart rate monitor is a chest strap. The activity tracker itself is to be worn on the wrist. It comes in the colors black and grey only.
