• when you connect it through the garmin connect app on your phone it will use your phones internet.

• Not directly. It does sync via blue tooth to a phone app or through the charger to a PC with the Garmin connect app. You can then access the garmin connect site on the internet.

• I don't have a Smartphone so my answer refers to connecting to the internet using a computer/laptop. The tracker comes with a cable. You connect one end of the cable to the tracker and the other end goes into a usb port on your computer/laptop. You go to Garmin Connect. Find the tracker under products. Click on it. Find "Start up" click on that and follow the directions. Once you click on the product you will also find the online user manual for the tracker. Hope this helps.
