• Hello Amps - We're so happy to hear from you about this excellent countertop microwave. It would be a pleasure to help out with this. Model JES1657SMSS boasts 1150 watts in microwave cooking power. However, the electrical input rating is 1600 watts for 14.5 amps. This means it should be installed on a circuit with at least 15 amps. Happy Thanksgiving and keep in touch! - John@GEA

• Common household circuit of 115 to 125 volts can run 15 to 20 amps. If you have more than one appliance running on the circuit then it will trip your circuit breaker. I have my microwave on a separate circuit.
