Hi Ted - The light bulb or lamp of a microwave oven is covered by the warranty for the appliance, just as any other part; however, they are not covered under a service contract. Model JES1657SMSS has a 1-Year RTV (Return to Vendor) Warranty. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue
