QuestionJust purchased a GE countertop microwave. Hearing the low hum which is kind of unpleasant--. It heats water, but not hearing any kind of fan as with previous microwaves. Should there be a fan operating on this countertop microwave?

- Answer HI Julie, not sure if I've noticed a fan. The small hum sounds much like my last 15 year old GE microwave but much quieter.

QuestionI need to replace my existing GE microwave, which is built in to my cabinet. Do I need to replace the part around the microwave that makes it built in?

- Answer I recently switched my 1.6 Kitchen-Aid for a 1.6 GE. The case on the ovens were exactly same size. It fit right into the surround built in kit. These ovens are made at the same factory sometimes. I would try a Kitchen-Aid model if you can't get another GE the same size. I think Kenmore, Frigidaire and others may be similiar.
