When replacing the microwave the old trim kit is not compatible with any new model today. You will then need to replace the microwave and the built-in trim kit. You will need to modify your current cutout opening of H- 17 1/2" x 24" W. The new models would require opening of H - 17 1/8" x W 23 1/4" and the model microwave is PEB9159DJBB and then either optional 27" Built-In Kit JX9152DJBB for 27" wide cabinet or optional 30" Built-In Kit JX9153DJBB. This model offers a single 30 watt halogen bulb that sits between the two grease filters on the underside of the unit. It offers a bright and night light setting. This model offers three venting options. It can be vented to the outside through the top or back. It can also be converted to internal, recirculating venting. With this venting method, the blower is turned and a charcoal filter is installed. The air is then directed through the charcoal filter to remove odors and grease prior to be vented back into your kitchen. We recommend the charcoal filter be replaced every 6 months and this model does have a Filter Reset light to remind you to do so. We do hope you choose GE for your home. Vikki@GEA

Sure, the height of the JVM6175 is a tee bit shorter at .3125 " compared to .5 " on the JVM1340, and the depth is a whopping 1.5625" sticking out, but it should fit if you can live with it. Other things to consider that may need modifications would be new holes for mounting screws and exhaust vent.

However, you will need to use the mounting kit that comes with the model. This is because the kit is made specifically for that model. So yes, this microwave will work. You will also need the filler kit since our units are made for 30" openings. The filler kit will allow it to fit into 36" openings. The filler kit for this model is JX36BSS. Have a great day!
