Q: QuestionMy GE micro wave is asking for a code to simply heat anything. All that is working is the clock. When press 1 the Word food comes up and it will not allow me to heat the food. Help!!÷

Some microwave models have a built-in 5-minute internal timer as a safety feature preventing the microwave from cooking without food inside, since doing so can cause the unit to overheat. If food is placed into the cavity before selecting a cooking sequence, opening and closing the door activates the switch, initiating the 5-minute internal timer. The door latch switch must be opened and closed before hitting “START,” which signals the unit that food has been placed inside. The "FOOD" message on the display means the microwave thinks food has not been added yet. To correct the issue, open and close the door again and press “START.” We hope this is helpful. • A:Answer Hello, thank you for reaching out about this microwave. The 30 second button will work the same as the other model you were looking at. It will add 30 seconds to the time counting down each time the pad is pressed. Each touch will add 30 seconds, up to 99 minutes and 99 seconds. The button can also be used like an express 30 seconds button. The microwave oven will start immediately when pressed. Q: QuestionOur GE Model JVM1752DP2BB Microwave goes completely dead when gets done cooking. If I unplug it and plug it back in it will seem to reset itself and work again. Is this a repairable problem or is it better to purchase a new micrwave? It is 7 years old.

Q: QuestionI have GE Profile over the range microwave; model PVM 1870sm1ss. I need to replace it. I also have backsplash with tiles that go right up to the bottom of microwave. What microwave will work without leaving a gap. Can the installer go over the tile?

When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. Over-the-Range Microwave Oven JVM3160DFCC is a current model and the only GE model offered in bisque. • A:Answer I replaced my over the range GE microwave with sensor cooking and top exterior exhaust with JVM6175DKWW 1.7 CF OTR SENSOR MICRO OVEN. It has proven to be a great choice. The sensor cooking function works even better than the old model. But alas, the wall mounting bracket was designed differently enough to require replacing it with the new one. Also the top mounting holes are in different locations. I still installed it myself but I don't know why they had to change it. Same brand, makes no sense.
