Q: QuestionWe installed this 10' duct cover kit, but in our particular installation it does not go all the way up to the ceiling. We would like to finish off the raw edge at the top with some sort of trim or crown molding. Does GE make anything like that?

Q: QuestionI have the JVW5301 30inch pyramid and need 30'3/4 of vent, what vent do I need? From reading other questions I gather you should not cut to fit. Also, is this 10' kit vented on the side so you can recirculate? Thanks

• A:Answer Hi, Thanks for reaching out, we're happy to help you today! The optional accessories available for this model are UXDC53SJSS - 10 (ft.) Ceiling Duct Cover Kit and UXDC72SJSS - 9 (ft.) Ceiling Duct Cover. Although we have not tested this, cutting the duct cover would not negatively impact the product. Clearly if a mistake is made when cutting the duct cover down a few inches, the warranty will not cover that damage. New holes will have to be drilled on the flange to attach it to the bracket. Also, make sure to install it at least 24” above the cooking surface, as identified in the installation instructions. The duct cover is a common design used when venting outside or recirculating. The "cutout"/louvers on the side are used for recirculating. It serves no other purpose. Q: QuestionWe purchased a UVW8361SLSS cafe hood but have a 10 foot ceiling. Can either UXDC53SJSS or UXDC732MSS suit this particular hood vent? I know GE recommends UXDC53SJSS but it is back ordered and unavailable now. The UXDC732MSS is available at my store. Help

• A:Answer Hi - We appreciate your interest in our chimney hood. While this vent hood is designed to be vented vertically through the ceiling, you can use a 90 degree elbow to vent horizontally through the rear wall. The elbow and and any other ductwork needed would be obtained locally and is not sold by GE. We do recommend using the shortest duct run possible to get the best performance from the hood. We recommend checking the installation instruction on the vent hood to see if a cover extension is needed. If it is still needed, we do not recommend cutting this extension kit.
