See pages 5 and 6 of the Owner's Manual regarding adjusting the freezer to the desired temperature: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60763-3.PDF- The correct operating temperature of chest and upright freezers is -5 to +5 degrees Fahrenheit. • A:Answer Hi - Thank you for your interest in a new GE upright freezer. The rated running amps is 1.8. The amperage rating should be multiplied by 2 or 3 to cover the start-up amperage of the compressor. We do recommend the freezer be connected to a dedicated 3-prong grounded outlet protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker. We do hope this helps. Kind regards - Vikki@GEA

Upright freezers require a 120 volt, individual, properly grounded branch circuit with a 3 prong grounding type receptacle, protected by a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse. The general wattage is about 1,800 or 2,400 watts depending on if the unit is connected to a 15 or 20 amp circuit breaker.
