• You would only need a water line on a model if it has an ice maker, water dispenser, or both.

• Hi Pete - A water line is not required unless you choose to purchase optional Icemaker Kit IM4D or IM4LED. In addition to making ice, IM4LED instantly adds bright LED lighting to your freezer compartment. Thanks for choosing GE! Sue
