The handles easily as are installed and removed. I also had tight squeeze and when Best Buy delivered it, I simply requested they only install/assemble the handles after getting it thru the threshold. Good luck
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Good day, Thank you so much for reaching out about this great refrigerator. If needed, the doors and handles can be removed from this unit to make moving easier. Let us know if you have any further questions. Mike@GEA

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Mine measures slightly less than 31", maybe 30 3/4 (but the manual says 30 7/8). There are instructions about how easy it is to install the handles, suggesting that it ships with them unattached, which would be perfect for you. But I don't see any mention of how to remove them once installed, and I can't see any way to do that, either. I had the fridge installed by Best Buy, and when I first saw it, the handles were in place, but they might have been attached just outside my house for all I know. The doors can be removed fairly easily, but for the 2 French doors it involves disassembling the hinges at the top. Not too complicated, but there's no one-step shortcut. There are details in the manual. You might want to check that out. I'll bet the Best Buy installers would be able to do that easily.
