The GE does have a heating element, but I believe it only turns on when you use the "sterilize" cycle (not sure of the exact name) to heat the water more than the temperature that comes from the Hot tap. I'm not sure if you can only connect to a cold water tap and then heat the water for each load.

With Auto Temp, the washer water temperature management system senses the incoming water temperature and adjusts the fill water by mixing hot and cold water to obtain the correct wash temperature. You can view the Installation Instructions online at the following link regarding Hot and Cold connections: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-90369-4.pdf - Also, the washer should be plugged into an individual, properly polarized and grounded 15-amp branch circuit fused with 15-amp, time-delay fuse or circuit breaker. Matching Dryer: GE® 4.0 Cu. Ft. Capacity Electric Dryer DCVH480EKWW. Optional Stacking Kit GE24STACK (sold separately). Thanks for considering GE. Keep in touch! SUEatGEA
