Hi Katlyn- Thanks for choosing our GE Model GTS21FGKBB! Newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators. Modern refrigerators have more features and use newer technology. The new high efficiency compressor may run faster and longer than your old refrigerator and you may hear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound while it is operating. To view normal operating sounds, see page 13 of the Owner's Manual at this link: http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60780.pdf - Also, we suggest to view a short video about normal top freezer refrigerator sounds: https://www.youtube.com/embed/1KbRYkk5rWc?rel=0 - Any other sounds may require a service technician for diagnosis. To schedule a service appointment, contact GE Appliance Service at 1-800-432-2737 or schedule a service appointment online: http://www.geappliances.com/ge/service-and-support/service.htm?ICID=GEARsupportflyout-service - We hope this is helpful. Thanks for sharing your concerns! SUEatGEA
