• A:Answer Hi - Thanks for viewing GE Model JRS06SKSS! All wall ovens must be hard wired (direct wired) into an approved junction box. A “plug and receptacle” is not permitted on these products. All models have a 40” or 54” conduit with the electrical leads attached to the oven. The leads can then be connected right into the household wiring. Q: QuestionIs this oven self cleaning?

• A:Answer Hello - thanks for asking this great question! This is a standard clean model, so that means the interior is made of a smooth, porcelain-enamel-on-steel liner, with shelf supports embossed in liner material. This smooth surface liner makes cleaning easy and the liner also reflects heat away from the surface to help prevent spill-overs from baking on. Additionally, with proper care, the porcelain enamel finish on the inside of the oven will stay new-looking for years. Be sure to let the oven cool before cleaning, and we also recommend wearing rubber gloves when cleaning the oven. Soap and water will normally do the job, though heavy spattering or spillovers may require cleaning with a mild abrasive cleaner. Q: QuestionIs it possible (safe) to set this oven on a stand or base cabinet rather than having it built in? I realize that it wouldn't Be "finished" on the sides, top and bottom.

• A:Answer Hi Cat57 - Thanks for considering our GE Wall Oven! This would not be an approved installation. You will need to be sure the oven is securely installed in a cabinet that is firmly attached to the house structure. Weight on the oven door could cause the oven to tip, resulting in serious personal injury or death. Cabinet space must be provided to enclose the recessed part of your built-in oven. It is important that the oven be installed at or above the minimum height specified. The unit has been tested and approved, in accordance with safety standards, at this height. GE Appliances cannot recommend altering, redesigning, or modifying an appliance. Our products are designed, tested and manufactured to specific specifications. Q: QuestionI'm installing a single 24" electric wall oven. The installation shows I can install the electrical junction box 5" below the runners? If I do this the oven conduit wires will go down the rear of the oven. Is this okay? It won't be hot for the wire?

After reviewing the Installation Instructions and Quick Specs for model JRS06BJBB (as you didn’t mention your exact model number, please make sure you are viewing the correct instructions for your specific model), we can advise the Junction Box should be either 5” MIN below the cutout floor or 44” MIN above cutout floor. It should also be a minimum of 23 7/8” above the runners. If you’d like to view additional details, as well as diagrams, the Installation Instructions and Quick Specs are both available on our GE Appliances website when you look up the model number and go to the product page. Electrical connections and details are also discussed in those documents, if you’d like to review that information as well. Q: QuestionI'm replacing a 1970s Hotpoint. I measured the cutout opening and the oven dimensions are all smaller so it should fit. But now I read required "cutout dimensions." Says cutout depth should be 23 1/2. I have 23 1/4. oven depth is 23 1/10th. Problem?

Since this model is a bit larger than your cutout opening, it may stick out less than an inch in the front.
