A:Answer You do not need to connect a waterline to this unit to operate it. Just make sure the power switch to the icemaker is switched off first to prevent damage to it. The refrigerator this one replaced we used for 16 years with no water supply, and we verified the same operation with this new one before installing.
P.S.-It is wise to let the new refrigerator sit for 24 hours before plugging it in and powering it up, in order to let the refrigerant settle properly within the system. Not doing so can shorten the life of the unit. And, frankly, you should want to also wait until the new fridge is cold before transferring food to it. Keep the old fridge for the 15-day review period, then contact Best Buy to have it hauled away for 30 bucks. It costs the same whether they take it the day they deliver your new refrigerator, or wait a couple of weeks and come back.
