I can pull the hose out about 2 ft

Hi HoseLength- This is Sue at GE Appliances. Thanks for considering our GE Convertible/ Portable Dishwasher! Fill and drain hoses will extend out 35" from the left rear top corner of the dishwasher as you face the dishwasher. The power cord will extend 5 feet from the left rear top corner as you face the dishwasher. Thanks for checking with us. Enjoy!

my hose also pulls out about 2', not long enough to reach the tap

It pulls out long enough to easily attach to the sink with a few inches to spare. but probably would not work for what you have in mind.
