Hi WyoSharpy - Thanks for viewing GE! It is normal for the base pan in an air conditioner to fill with water. This water comes from condensate created as the air conditioner draws moisture from the indoor air. It also comes from collected rainwater. At some point, it may be full enough for water to drip out of the back of the unit. Window air conditioners should be installed with a slight tilt (about a 1/4") to the outside so this dripping is normal. Air conditioners are designed to evaporate some of this water. All GE room air conditioners have a "slinger ring" around the rear fan blade. The ring is designed to pick water up off the bottom of the pan and throw it against the condenser coils. This design feature helps improve the efficiency of the unit by reducing heat on the coils, and helps remove moisture from the pan. We hope this is helpful. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com. Sue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.First I would think this unit is too small for a building with such a high ceiling. The unit produces a lot of condensate but uses it to cool the condenser much like a swamp cooler, so it blows it around and makes a little bit of noise.
