• Unless the window opening height is exactly the height of the air conditioned, you would need to fabricate a panel to fill the gap above, and you would likely need to add support brackets to keep the unit from falling.

• I don't see why not. I have another air conditioner that is mounted on a window sliding left/right and the key is that you need a metal bar going across horizontally that it's top L shaped bracket holds on to. I would search youtube for more details but it worked for me and I don't see why any regular window AC can't be mounted that way, assuming it has a top horizontal L shaped bracket screw into it.
