Hi - Thanks for reaching out to us and for choosing GE! We are sorry to hear of this issue with the side bracket screws and apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. There is not a trick or something special about the screw. First, make sure you are turning the screw counter-clockwise to remove. If a small Phillips Head screwdriver is being used (#1 vs #2, which is preferred) or one that is worn, it is more difficult removing the screw. It's also helpful if you push against the handle of the screwdriver, pressing the tip into the screw head as you try to remove the screw. We hope this is helpful. Keep in touch at GEAppliances.com.
