“Do I need a hose to get the water out of the unit? This is the first time I have a portable AC and I don't know the terminology nor how it functions. I just know that the water has to come out of somewhere”

The unit comes with a drain pan that will have to be emptied. The unit will give you an alarm when the drain pan needs emptying.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.you don't. It's possible to raise the unit up a bit and put a plastic container to catch the outflow. The hose is just neater.
