I need all 3 of the sliding window brackets to fit my window but not to their full extension, so when used and extended to the width needed, the opening for the exhaust hose nozzle is partially covered. What am I to do? null

Cut it carefully, it’s plastic so you can use a very sharp tool like an exact or even cutting pliers .

I just want to comment that "GE Answers" solution to this problem was to take a saw and cut the plastic piece to fit the windows. That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. 

I had this same problem that the original poster did. My solution is now to take the AC back and buy a different brand.
